Vernon Hills, IL - STS Consultants, Ltd.(STS)is honored to announce that Clyde N. Baker, Jr., P.E., S.E. has been elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) for advancements in the engineering and construction of deep foundations for safe support of the world’s tallest buildings. Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded an engineer. Academy Membership honors those who have made "important contributions to engineering theory and practice, including significant contributions to the literature of engineering theory and practice," and those who have demonstrated "unusual accomplishment in the pioneering of new and developing fields and technology." Mr. Baker, who has been with STS for 45 years, serves as a Senior Vice President and Senior Principal Engineer. He has developed an international reputation in the design and construction of deep foundations. Mr. Baker has served as geotechnical engineer or consultant on six of the twelve tallest buildings in the world including the three tallest in Chicago (Sears, Hancock, and Amoco) and the current tallest building in the world, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. STS is a specialized consulting
engineering firm practicing in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering,
Construction Technology and Environmental Sciences. STS maintains
